Location
The condo, studio, and villa are all in the Guanacaste region (the west coast) of Costa Rica. They are all within a 30 minute drive from the Liberia airport.
Getting to the rentals
For Coco Beach or Hermosa Beach, pickup service is available or taxis can be taken from the Liberia airport for about $25.
There are numerous car rental agencies located in close proximity to the Liberia Airport. Discuss arrangements with Graham Howie (see reservations page for contact detail).
Climate
There are only 2 seasons in Guanacaste Costa Rica:
- Dry season (December 1 to April 30)
- Wet or "green" season (May 1 - Nov 30th)
During the "green" season, the weather is still warm and there is still an average of around 6 hours of sunshine a day.
Beaches
The beach is a short two-minute walk from the condo and studio. It does not have the white sand beaches of Cuba; it has a grey/black sand due to volcanic activity. It is a nice beach nonetheless.
Car rentals
Car rentals are all over the place and are priced competitively. A typical small car rental in the off season (April-November) would be about $175/wk and during the high season around $225-250/wk.
Taxis are always available.
Mapache Development near Coco Beach (Condo and Studio)
There is a great Italian restaurant in the development along with an electronics shop, internet cafe and bike and kayak rental.
The town of Coco Beach (Condo and Studio)
Coco Beach (Playas del Coco) is 1/2 kil walk away. The road is not paved but most people walk anyways. There are shops, lots of restaurants, a bank, post office, large grocery store, and more.
Things to do in Coco Beach (Condo and Studio)
There are beaches galore on the Pacific side, volcanoes, canopy tours, horseback riding, and world class fishing all within an hour's drive.
Villa Sol Development near Hermosa Beach (Villa only)
The villa is in a gated community with several pools, a restaurant, small shops and a workout room. It is a 10 minute walk to the beach (beautiful) but there are shuttles which run around every 10 minutes that you can take there. There is some good info on the community at: Villa Sol's website.
